UK To Transfer 534 Nigerian Prisoners Home

According to a report by UK Daily Mail, Hundreds of Nigerian criminals will be sent home to serve out prison sentences under a deal set to be struck by ministers within weeks. Talks are continuing into reaching a compulsory prisoner transfer agreement, which could see more than half of the 500 criminals from Nigeria currently in UK jails repatriated.
Prisons minister Jeremy Wright told MailOnline how 'more foreign prisoners must serve their sentences in their own countries'. Ministers have been ordered to step up efforts to end the scandal of more than one in eight prisoners being from overseas. David Cameron vowed to end the practice of the British taxpayer picking up the bill for criminals with no business in the UK.

UK Prime Minister said in 2010 that he would ’personally intervene’ to send more foreign criminals home.

Britain has even made clear it would pay to build new prisons in countries like Nigeria to speed up the process of sending foreign criminals home. Up to £1million has been promised to upgrade Nigerian jails, including a new wing at Kirikiri Prison in Lagos.

Securing an agreement with Nigeria would be seen as a much more significant breakthrough. Latest figures show there were 534 Nigerian nationals in British jails, 485 men and 49 women.

Nigerians account for one in 20 of all foreign prisoners, putting the country fifth in the league table of nations whose citizens have been jailed in the UK.
Justice Minister Mr Wright said: ‘I am clear that more foreign prisoners must serve their sentences in their own countries.
‘That is why we are currently working with the Nigerian Government on a compulsory prisoner transfer agreement to increase the number of prisoners who are transferred.
‘Legislation allowing Nigeria to enter such an arrangement was passed earlier this year by the Nigerian Parliament. We are now working with them on the text of a final agreement.’
Overflowing jails abroad have made it increasingly difficult to deport prisoners to their own country.

It is argued that by paying for building new jails or making existing ones more ‘comfortable’ so they approach British standards, will be repatriated.

UCH Ibadan performs first open heart surgery

feat: The surgical team that performed the feat at University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan.
The first open heart surgery in a teaching hospital in Nigeria has been successfully carried out at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The feat was carried out by surgeons at the UCH in conjunction with a team of surgeons from Tri-State Cardiovascular Delaware, USA. (The surgical team that performed the feat pictured above)

A statement by the institution’s Head of Information Unit, Mr. Toye Akinrinola, disclosed that the four-hour surgery was to correct a leaking heart valve in a 19-year-old secondary school leaver.

An elated Chief Medical Director of the UCH, Professor Temitope Alonge, noted that the UCH was moved to embark on the exercise as a way of alleviating the hardship being experienced by Nigerians with heart-related challenges.

He stated that as the first teaching hospital in Nigeria, the UCH should take the lead in critical areas of medicine, propelling it into ensuring that complex surgeries (like open heart surgery) were carried out in the hospital.

“We are the pioneer teaching hospital in Nigeria, and we should be taking the lead. We are going to do this and we intend to make it a continuous exercise.

“In fact, within the next six months, we intend carrying out not less than 30 heart-related surgeries and at affordable cost to Nigerians.”

Alonge, who lamented that Nigerians pay exorbitantly to undergo such procedures outside the country, pointing out that the cheapest rate outside Nigeria was about N2.5 million.

“This is outside the airfare and hotel bills. It will run into millions. But with us here, it will be a lot cheaper and the access is there. The first surgery is heavily subsidised as a way of encouraging Nigerians to have confidence in our healthcare system.”

Alonge stated that the Federal Government had given the UCH a mandate to improve on the training of doctors as a way of enhancing more access to adequate healthcare in Nigeria.

Leader of the doctors from the USA, Dr. Kamar Adeleke noted that the patient would be back to his normal activities in less than two months.

“He does not have anything to fear about life expectancy. He will soon resume his normal activities, and do all the things he was used to before he took ill,” Dr. Adeleke said.

Adeleke gave assurance of his continued support to providing access to adequate healthcare as obtained in other developed countries.

After more than a decade of of inactivity, open heart surgery resumed in the country at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, UNTH, Enugu, at an average cost of N500, 000.

How Aviation Minister forced aviation agency to spend $1.6m on two armored cars for her

This is an exclusive report from Saharareporters.com with documents to back their claim. Check on it below
SaharaReporters has obtained documents further exposing the depth of corruption and mismanagement of public funds at Nigeria’s Ministry of Aviation headed by Stella Oduah. One of the documents details how Ms. Oduah compelled the cash-strapped Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to purchase two armored BMW cars for the minister. NCAA is the agency charged with ensuring the airworthiness of commercial planes flying within Nigeria’s airspace. Two officials of the agency told SaharaReporters that the NCAA did not have enough funds to upgrade equipment, send staff for critical training, and hire enough qualified staff. “Yet, all the minister is concerned about is to have two exotic BMW cars from the little money we have for operations,” one of the sources said.
The documents obtained by SaharaReporters indicate that the transaction for the purchase of the two BMW vehicles started in June 2013. However, the request for delivery of and payment for the two vehicles was fast-tracked between August 13 and 15 2013. The transaction involved the NCAA, First Bank of Nigeria, and Coscharis Motors Limited.

In a letter dated August 13, 2013, J.D Nkemakolam of the NCAA sent a letter to the Managing Director of Coscharis Motors asking the company to deliver to the NCAA two BMW 760 armored vehicles based on a pro-forma invoice dated June 25, 2013 at the cost of N127, 575,000 ($796,846.21) each. The total amount for the two vehicles came to N255,150,000, or $1,593,687.31. The NCAA’s letter directed Coscharis Motors to deliver the vehicles with sales invoices, delivery notes, and attestation documents.

Our documents reveal that the payment for the vehicles was made into a First Bank of Nigeria account (number 2018912995 with sort code: 0111152303), according to a letter signed by Godwin Umeaka, Coscharis’ group financial controller.

The two black BMW Li HSS vehicles had chases numbers WBAHP41050DW68032 and WBAHP41010DW68044 respectively. The two cars were delivered to the NCAA on August 13, 2013, where it was received by two store managers, F. Onoabhagbe and Y.A. Amzat (who is also the agency’s head of transport). On August 15, 2013, Sola Ogunsakin of the NCAA signed off to certify completion of the transaction.

In an extensive investigation of the Aviation sector after three air mishaps in Nigeria’s airspace, SaharaReporters found a pattern of questionable expenditures authorized by the minister. Several insiders within the aviation industry have told SaharaReporters that Ms. Oduah and President Goodluck Jonathan had focused on the Aviation Ministry as a source for a series of corrupt activities.
“Under Mrs. Oduah, the ministry has carried out many big capital development projects. But what outsiders don’t know is that these projects are being used to divert big amounts into private pockets,” an aviation source said.

Our sources disclosed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had investigated several corrupt practices in the aviation sector, but added that the anti-corruption agency never had the backbone to act on their findings due to political pressure from the Presidency.
Several sources at the agency told SaharaReporters that they were not aware of the whereabouts of the two BMW cars. Some of the sources stated that the cars were  handed to the minister who had converted them to private use.

Several interest groups have been demanding the removal of Ms. Oduah, citing her corrupt tendencies, mismanagement of aviation funds and incompetence. Under her watch, the Nigerian airspace has witnessed several air mishaps that claimed the lives of at least 140 people.
A Presidency source told SaharaReporters that Ms. Oduah still retains the confidence of President Jonathan. She is a close associate of Mr. Jonathan, serving as the treasurer who handled funds for the Jonathan campaign during the 2011 presidential election. She also co-chaired the campaign group known as Neighbor-To-Neighbor.

Robin Thicke’s Wife Confirms His Large Manhood

Paula Patton has confirmed that Robin Thicke’s manhood is large in size.
The actress addressed the boastful claims made in the RnB singers Blurred Lines video – in which a balloon is seen with the words “Robin Thicke has a big dick”, scrawled along it – and she says the crude message is true.

During an interview with the November issue of America’s Glamour magazine Paula revealed: “Robin’s like, ‘Listen, if I’m, you know, in the Miami Heat’s locker room, I don’t know where I stand, but …but I think that the statement is fairly accurate!”‘I wrote it about my wife
The couple who have three-year-old son Julian, were originally high-school sweethearts before they tied the knot eight years ago, and Paula claims Robin’s sexy singing skills led to their first kiss.
The 37-year-old beauty recalled: “He sang Jodeci’s Forever My Lady to me. He did a full-out RnB onstage performance in his dad’s living room. Then he kissed me. It worked!”
Meanwhile Robin cleared up controversy surrounding the racy lyrics to his song Blurred Lines and insisted he wrote it about his wife.
In an interview with BBC’s Newsbeat, Robin explained: “I don’t think people got it. I wrote it about my wife …she’s my good girl. And I know she wants it because we’ve been together for 20 years.”

10 MOST STYLISH CELEBRITIES in NIGERIA

Instagram has not only become a medium to share photos of their daily life but a way to show off their personal style. So please believe that when it comes to the creme de la creme of Naija’s entertainment industry,
they are showing us more than enough STYLE to work with and admire! So with that said, let’s get into the MOST STYLISH CELEBRITIES IN NIGERIA!
TOKE MAKINWA
ABJAG1
First up we have radio personality, Toke Makinwa! With her dark long locks, flawless makeup and demure style she reminds me of a life size Barbie doll. Or rather the more exotic version of Barbie. Every time she steps out on the red carpet or snaps a random photo on Instagram you can tell she’s all about being a LADY. Even when she does something edgy with her look it still exudes femininity.
ALEX EKUBO
ABJAG2
Please believe I had to add the one and only Alex Ekubo. Take a look at that photo first and tell me his style is not on point. Apart from being a very handsome man, he knows how to wear a suit and tie. You can tell he likes to look sharp and clean. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him look undone. He is always put together… and although he’s dressed in all black in the photo above, he knows how to incorporate bold colors into his wardrobe which can never hurt.
GENEVIEVE NNAJI
ABJAG3
Another no-brainer was the incomparable Genevieve Nnaji. It seems like the older she gets the finer she gets and along with her looks her style becomes more and more classic. She can wear the hell out of a dress and make you want to buy it right off the rack and if possible wear it off her back. There’s something sexy yet subtle about the way she dresses. It doesn’t overpower you but creeps up on you but in a good way.
UTI NWACHUKWU
ABJAG4
Next up we have Mr Uti Nwachukwu! The only man that can rock this style of dreads! When I first saw Uti at the NEAwards last September with his plaid suit, I was like… wahala deeeey! Like who else could pull that kind of suit of, if not him? All I know is that he follows his own trends not what fashion dictates! Ultimately that is why is he on this list!
RITA DOMINIC
ABJAG5
Now Rita Dominic, gets a standing ovation from me. She has really grown into her own woman style wise! I’ve been noticing all these vintage inspired outfits and dresses she’s been rocking to events and on red carpets. Recently she wore a huge hat, baby blue blazer, white collared shirt and trousers to Tuface’s wedding and I absolutely loved it. She’s been trying new things when it comes to her coordinating a look and I must say that I am impressed. Levels have most certainly changed honey!
EBUKA
ABJAG6
When it comes to colors, Ebuka, knows how to mix and match them! Adding color to a man’s wardrobe can be tricky for most but I guess he falls under another category. I personally think the color blue looks great on him! Gentleman: take note… no offense. ;)
KATE HENSHAW
ABJAG7
Kate Henshaw is in same class as Genevieve when it comes to the kinds of clothing they would go for but Kate’s athelic build just allows any dress to look great on her and fit like a glove. I also love that she sports her natural hair at times …when you have to let your hair just breathe y’know! ;)
D’BANJ
D'Banj in London
Aside from the exposed D&G briefs and Jesus piece in this photos… oh and the bare chest, D’Banj does have a style all his own. Yes men were wearing suits in Naija before he came around but in a sea of artists rocking the latest kicks,  T-Shirts, tailored jeans, D’Banj made it sexy and appealing to wear suits as an entertainer in Naija.
TIWA SAVAGE
ABJAG9
Tiwa is a fashionista through and though. She not only wears dresses and outfits that look great on her. She adds accessories to the mix and in a bold way! Check out the gold cuffs on her wrist and gold plated necklace she’s wearing in the photo above. These are the little additions that can take an outfit from nice to a show stopper and Tiwa does that perfectly.

BURNA BOY
ABJAG10
Burna Boy! Burna Boy! Burna Boy! This guy’s style just makes me think of Puffy aka P. Diddy back in the days when he was rolling with Biggie sans the sleeveless shirts and tattoos of course. Maybe its the shades, I don’t know but I get that vibe from him. I love the way he dressing down and how he dresses it up, he never seems to have a care as to what others around may say or think. Some may call that cockiness, I call it confidence. That’s something you need to have if you’re going to walking around with leopard printed sleeveless top and dark shades.
Well, these are my top ten! You may not agree so go ahead and tell me who you think should have made this list!
