Michelle Obama alks aboutt Plastic Surgery

The First Lady of the United States of America
will turn the big 50 on Friday 17th January
2014. And if the reports are true, it is going to be
a grand affair.
President Barack Obama is reportedly
planning a big event, with Beyoncé and Adele
performing at the ceremony.

In an interview with People Magazine,
FLOTUS speaks on the topic. “Women should
have freedom to do whatever they need to do to
feel good about themselves. Right now, I don’t
imagine that I would go that route, but I’ve also
learned to never say never.” she says.
But she advises women to be more health
conscious and take their regular health checkups
including pap smears and mammograms.
On turning 50, Mrs 0 says “I’ve got to keep
figuring out ways to have an impact, whether as
a mother or as a professional or as a mentor to
other kids. At that point in life, whoa, the sky is
the limit.”

“It’s A Shame That Nigeria Cannot Produce A Handkerchief At 100 Years” – Bishop Chukwuma

The Chairman of the Christian Association of
Nigeria, CAN, South East Zone, Rt. Rev. Dr.
Emmanuel Chukwuma has decried the slow
pace of development in Nigeria.
Bishop Chukwuma,
who is also the Anglican Bishop of Enugu
Diocese, was speaking yesterday shortly after a
church service held at the Good Shepard
Cathedral, Enugu, to mark his 60th Birthday.
He expressed regret that 100 years after the
amalgamation of the northern and southern
protectorates, Nigeria was still importing
handkerchiefs.
He also noted that the country was yet to find a
sense of direction at 100 years.
“It is a shame that Nigeria cannot produce a
handkerchief at 100 years. Our leaders need to
be sensible. Anybody above 70 years should
retire and become a consultant”, he said.
The cleric, who expressed appreciation to God
and his followers for his numerous
achievements since he became Bishop, assured
that he would not be discouraged by the current
situation of things in the country.
He advised the nation’s leaders and elders to be
sensible and distance themselves from
corruption as well as to give the young ones
opportunity to serve their father land in order
to avert a serious revolution.
The CAN leader also condemned Tuesday’s car
bombing in Maiduguri, Borno State that led to
the death of many innocent citizens, warning
that Nigeria cannot afford another civil war.
On the recently signed Anti-Gay bill, the cleric
hailed President Goodluck Jonathan for
resisting pressure from western nations, stating
that there is nothing like gay in the Bible.
Bishop Chukwuma, however, urged the
government to ensure the implementation of
the new law, insisting that Gay practice was
dehumanizing.

Here's TB Joshua's Reaction To The New Anti-Gay Law

As news of the controversial law banning same-
sex marriage continues to make headlines
worldwide after it was signed into law by
President Goodluck Jonathan, the renowned
spiritual head of the Synagogue church in Lagos,
Prophet TB Joshua has spoken out on the
contentious issue.
“Judge not, so that you will not be judged,”
Joshua began, citing Matthew 7:1 for Scriptural
backing. “We should talk to people to be saved
and not to die. I mean, we should talk
salvation, not condemnation. The Bible
is my standard .”
Through a new initiative on his ministries
official Facebook page, with almost 900,000
fans, in which the cleric responds to
people’s questions in an interactive session, he
addressed the much debated question on same-
sex marriage.
TB Joshua added: “If my parents were one, I
would not have been given birth to,” he
proceeded poignantly. “ Those that are asking
this question, (note that) if your parents were
one, you would not have been given birth to .
You that are reading me – if your parents were
one, you would not be reading this today. God
bless the reader and the hearer.”
His message is clear; being gay is not something
we should encourage but we should not
condemn any one.

Senator Allegedly Attacked By Police In Rivers Moved To London For Further Treatment

In amove reminiscent of the saga involving a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly,Michael Chinda, who was reportedly flown in
an air ambulance to London following injuries
he sustained to the head when his colleague and
House Leader, Chidi Lloyd, pounced on him
using the symbol of authority, the mace, a
serving senator, who was reportedly shot with a
rubber bullet and teargas canisters on Sunday
morning by the Nigerian police in the state, has
also being reportedly flown to London for
further treatment, according to reliable sources.
Magnus Abe,
Chairman of the Senate Committee on
Petroleum (Downstream) and Senator
representing Rivers South East Senatorial
District, was first admitted on Sunday at a
hospital in D line area of Port Harcourt, the
state capital, but was later transferred to
another hospital with better equipment to
handle his situation when policemen disrupting
a peaceful rally organized by the Save Rivers
Movement and opposition members in the
state, allegedly shot at him with teargas and
rubber bullets.
Dr Mackay Anyanwu, who administered first
aid to Senator Abe at Krisany Medical services,
in D line where he was first rushed to, told
newsmen that the senator was treated for
traumatic shock but noted that further
examination revealed that his chest was hit with
an object that might have led to internal
bleeding.
He said: “The patient was brought in a state of a
shock, as evidenced by low blood pressure. He
was restless and he couldn’t communicate or
reason coherently. As a first aid, we treated him
for traumatic shock because the implication of
his state was that there was severe blood
trauma and the amount of layers affected could
not be detected immediately. This can only be
done through haemorrhoid tests”.
Meanwhile, the police in the state have denied
that its men shot the Senator, claiming that
they rather used minimum force to disperse the
rally at the state’s College of Arts and Sciences
because they did not obtain police permit.

PHOTO: Meet 9-Year-Old Prodigy Girl Who Succeeded in Her WAEC Exams

Read the story of her success in the interview
with the Sun Newspapers.
What was your experience during the
period of GCE exams?
I studied a lot during the period of the exam. I
even had to study books that were for SS3
students. I also studied the oldest past
questions of the GCE examination that I could
lay my hands on because the older the
questions, the harder they are.
How did you register for GCE
considering your tender age?
I burst into tears when the computer rejected
me as being too young to register for GCE. I had
to increase my age by five years before I could
register for the exam.
What was the impression of other
candidates at the exam centre?
No one believed that I was a candidate let alone
give me the opportunity to write the exam; not
even the examiners allowed me into the exam
hall until I passed the biometric test. Some
candidates were mocking me, others
called me names “over-ambitious girl,
wait for your time” .
What was your Exam registration
number?
My Exam number was 5250802098.
How old were you when you registered
for the exam?
I was eight years old when I was preparing for
the exam. I was eight when I wrote the French
Oral exam then I clocked 9 before I wrote the
English exam.
What was easy and what was very hard?
It was actually easy but the difficult part of the
English exam was the summary aspect.
What were your grades in the exams?
I registered for seven papers but only wrote
two, English and French because I readily had
teachers in those two subjects, dad and mum. I
made C5 in French Language and C6 in English
Language.
Did your school participate in grooming
you for the examination?
My school was not aware I was writing the
exam. But what I learnt from school also played
a part, so in a way, my school participated.
Even my parents got to know about my
registration for the exam after my brothers
helped me complete the process. My parents
who are both Lawyers felt it was a daring joke
considering my age but decided to groom me
for the exam. They had degrees in English and
French respectively before reading Law.
Why did you write only English and
French?
I wrote only English and French because by the
time I made up my mind to register for the
exams, time was not on my side. I had teachers
in those two subjects only: mum and dad.
Do you speak so much French? How did
you make C5 in French?
I don’t speak much French but my dad does. He
had first and second degrees in French before
reading Law. I am the former Miss French of
my school. Every year, my school organises a
French day and “Miss French” and “Master
French” pageant is the main event for the day. I
am always involved in any French related
activity in my school. I am the current Head
Girl of the school.
Was French easier than English? Why
did you perform better in French than
English?
French was not easier than English, but
interestingly, I had more confidence than
ability in French and the reverse was the case
in English. I love French. I am an active
member of French Club in my school. Daddy
always told me Paris is a beautiful city. I heard
of the famous French proverb “See Paris and
die” and I wish to see it one day.
Did you receive special lessons in
preparation for the exam?
Yes I did, in a way my dad who is a bilingual
lawyer and a former French teacher was my
French teacher and my mum who is a Chief
Magistrate was my English teacher.
How did you feel when you passed the
examination?
I felt very happy when I passed the exam but I
was a bit disappointed by the result because I
expected B2 or B3 in English Language.
Do you have a social life?
Yes I have a social life. I love dancing. I win
best dancer’s competition at most birthday
parties and social functions.
How do you relax?
I play games on my dad’s iPad. I relax by
watching television or swimming. I also enjoy
reading storybooks and science encyclopaedia.
What do you want to become in future?
My dream is to be a medical doctor in the
future, if possible be the youngest
medical doctor in the history of Nigeria.
What message do you have for children
of your age?
I advise children of my age to cultivate
the reading culture and be ready to learn
and show seriousness in their studies
because having the right attitude is
better than hard work and knowledge.
When there is a will, there is a way.

Sanusi Dares Jonathan: I Won’t Leave CBN Till June 2nd

The stage is set for a showdown between the
Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Mallam
Lamido Sanusi and the Presidency over when he
will step down from office. Sanusi is insisting he
would remain in office till June 2, 2014, when
his tenure official expires.
Sanusi’s insistence on staying in office till June
this year followed the storm provoked by
President Goodluck Jonathan's order to him to
resign over allegedly leaking a letter Sanusi
wrote to him (President) claiming that a huge
sum of about $49.8bn oil revenue was missing.
As the battled begins, Sanusi’s position has
received support from lawyers who said
President Jonathan lacks the constitutional
powers to direct the Governor of the Central
Bank to resign from office.
Most lawyers, who spoke to Vanguard,
maintained that only a two-third majority of the
Senate can validly sack the CBN governor from
office.
On their part, Economic operators called on
Jonathan to follow due process, in his attempt to
remove Sanusi from office. They said while the
President might have the means to fire Sanusi,
he should do so according to the terms and
conditions of the office.
CBN sources confirmed to Vanguard that Sanusi
has made up his mind to resist any attempt to
force him out of office before June 2 when his
tenure expires.
This position was further confirmed by CBN’s
spokesman, Ugo Okoroafor. He said Sanusi told
members of the management at a meeting on
Wednesday that he would be in office till June
and did not even indicate that he might proceed
on any terminal leave before completing his
tenure.
Okoroafor’s words: “He told us at the meeting
we held (on Wednesday) that he will be leaving
in June and did not give any indication that he
would proceed on retirement leave before that
time.”
Sanusi is relying on CBN Act 2007 which defines
the tenure, appointment and removal of CBN
governor.
Sanusi: Presidency keeps mum
The Presidency has kept mum over reports that
the president had asked the governor of the
Central Bank of Nigeria Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to
resign. Though the Special Adviser to President
on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati had
promised to react to the story before the end of
the day, several attempts to reach him, last night
failed.
Lawyers back Sanusi
Sanusi’s resistance has received the backing of
senior legal practitioners. A cross section of legal
practitioners that spoke to Vanguard,
maintained that only a two-third majority of the
Senate can validly sack the CBN governor from
office. They said that the President has no such
powers under the law to Sack Sanusi, adding
that President Jonathan would be acting beyond
his constitutionally guaranteed powers should
he insist on relieving the CBN governor of his
duties without recourse to due process.
Professor Itse Sagay, SAN, said: “The CBN
governor was right in his position. Although, he
was appointed by the president, however, that
appointment was ratified by the National
Assembly. His removal is supposed to be ratified
by the same body.
“Meanwhile, from what we gathered, the
government is making the move to remove the
CBN Governor from office because of the
revelation he made on the non-remittance of oil
revenue to the federation account by some
government agencies.
“The CBN governor is due to retire in four
months time, so what was the urge from the
President to want to remove him from office
now by all means ?”
